Baking Soda before ACV?

“When it comes to baking soda, research suggests that using it as part of a mouth rinse may help prevent the loss of tooth enamel. In addition, baking soda may help improve exercise performance during short-duration, high-intensity exercise” I just read about this, and am wondering, to protect teeth from the effects of ACV, should I be using a baking soda rinse before (or after) drinking a glass of water with ACV in it?

So to my understanding your enamel is strongest about one hour after brushing with a fluoride toothpaste. Fluoride has the strongest remineralization properties on the market. One hour after brushing assuming you haven’t rinsed with anything, your teeth will be as remineralized as possible and the acidity of your mouth will be at ideal levels. This is the best time to eat and drink anything acidic as your teeth have the maximum protection. When you’re done rinse thoroughly with water.I’ve also heard that it’s best not to brush immediately after eating and drinking high acidity foods because the enamel will be slightly softened. Just rinse and give it some time before you brush again.A note: these are preventative techniques that will help preserve enamel strength or can help rebuild enamel but for most people not doing these things won’t make or break the integrity of your teeth.

I think messing with your mouth pH is just asking for trouble. I’ve heard hydroxyapatite is better than fluoride for remineralization so that’s what I use (I adamantly avoid fluoride in my life). I also use xylitol for mouth bacteria. Oil pulling 15min twice a day with coconut oil because studies show it can remove ‘bad’ bacteria from your mouth (oil pulling as I type this). Hope these help! Would recommend staying away from baking soda, though. If you want to drink ACV simply dilute it in water and that should be good enough
