Bathroom habits on OMAD

I have IBS (primarily runs), and have been on medication (Linzess) for it, but I’ve gone a few days in between #2 bathroom breaks consistently. For my OMAD (4 weeks), I’ve been eating healthy and balanced. On previous diets through the years, eating more balanced diets have made my bowel habits more consistent, so I was prepared for that. Just not the few days in between.

Do you supplement Metamucil, Miralax, or something similar during your eating window?

Answer

I do. 16:8, normally do two meals a day and a drink consisting of athletic greens and sugar free metamucil.

Used to be just a green drink, but a colonoscopy doctor told me basically everyone needed more fiber.

Answer

OMAD significantly slows down my gut, for sure. Nothing as much as days between bowel movements but a small one per day is pretty typical.

One thing with OMAD is that you always run the risk of not getting enough nutrients. So plenty of people will start taking extra protein or fiber to supplement their normal meals. You might try some power bars that have a bunch of fiber, if you don’t want to jump all the way to miralax.

But, we’re not your doctor. If you’re actually worried, you should always discuss the situation with them.
