Juice and soda are basically the same thing. 5 grams of the sugar in the serving actually came from oranges. Then they added 9.5 grams of sugar per serving to make it sweet. This makes it candy. Removing the fiber from the orange makes those 5 grams of “natural” sugar act just like added sugar. For reference a Snickers bar as 20g of sugar, so a single serving of juice is like drinking 3/4 of a Snickers bar.

Juice does all the bad things sugar does, most notably spiking your blood sugar and then producing an insulin response. Doing this over and over again has myriad negative effects. Obesity and wrecking the insulin system (diabetes) are the two most obvious long-term problems but there are tons of others.
