Best IF ratio for fat loss and ketosis?

I few summers ago, I did 18:6 and that seemed to work really well. Would that be the best ratio?

Answer

If you eat a normal diet with lots of carbs you’re not going to get into ketosis on 18:6. It is not necessary to be in ketosis in order to lose weight and burn fat. However, if you want to get into ketosis in order to maximize fat burning efficiency and reduce hunger, you need to go on a keto diet (very low carb) and/or do longer fasts. But if you do longer fasts and eat carbs in between, you will not be in a constant state of ketosis. The best way to get into ketosis and stay there so you can get fat adapted is to do a keto diet.
