BEST REFEEDING FOR A VEGETARIAN

Hi, so I’ve been doing intermittent fasting daily for months. And I do a 48 every Sunday to Tuesday. During the 48 I drink electrolytes (salt, no salt and magnesium, with a cap full of ACV usually) like 3 times a day including about a gallon of water.

I’m A) looking to make sure I’m getting enough electrolytes. How do I know I’m not consuming to much salt?

B) as for refeeding I usually do a broth with Ramen and spinach and kimchi and air fry some tofu. I figure the broth is good for my gut and the veggies too and the tofu is a good amount of protein. I could probably drop the Ramen based on what I’ve been reading here.

Any great suggestions?

They will be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe you could switch the ramen to shirataki noodles? I refer on ramen at first and it just made me bloated and replenished my stored carbs. Nice to hear from another vegetarian faster though! Keep it up 👍

Answer

48 hour fast are not recomended because your blood sugar will drop under 70 mg/dl since your liver glycogen will be depleted after at least 12 hrs and when that happends your body will start breaking down muscle to create glucose through gluconeogenesis so your brain can stay alive. Optimal blood sugar range for weight loss is 70 to 100. I know some will say that acetyl coa can be made from fatty acids and converted to pyruvate but that is to a minor extent and is widely held that humans cannot convert fatty acids to glucose directly
