Best way to freeze Ezequiel bread

I love Ezequiel bread! The store I get it from(and all i could find) only carry it in the frozen section.

I get annoyed bc I have to take chunks and put in air fryer to thaw out for a bit before separating the slices. Once I can separate, I put the rest back.

This is annoying bc sometimes they don’t perfectly separate. Has anyone found a method to best perfectly separate the slices?

I keep mine in the freezer and can pretty easily snap the pieces of bread apart even while it’s completely frozen. Have you tried that? I think it might be easier if you do it when it’s fully frozen vs. partially thawed, because when it’s completely frozen the bread stays more stiff and doesn’t bend/crumble at all.

Answer

Mine snaps apart just fine from the freezer. Wonder if it’s being thawed and refrozen somewhere between the store you purchase from and getting it home.

Ps just got the cinnamon raisin one for the first time. Hello. 😍

When you freeze it, seperate the slices, put on a baking sheet in a single layer, freeze for 20 min. Then you can put them back in the bag as a loaf and they won’t stick together (I guess you have to thaw first and then refreeze since it comes frozen)

Bigger protip: you can do this with any frozen starch to keep from sticking. This is how I preserve batches of perogies I make

I usually break my off with a butter knife, but if you want to be super extra you can thaw (if bought frozen) then put individual slices on parchment paper and freeze. Then put it back in bag for storage. I do that if I’m gonna use for sandwiches so the bread slices no broken or crumbly.
