Body fat measurements

I have been 16/8, 18/6, 20/4, with an occasional 22/2 since Jan 1 2023 and feel great. I’ve lost about 20 pounds but still have about 20 to go. It seems like all my extra fat is in my belly.

Should I buy something that measures body fat or is that not important? I feel like it might motivate me to keep at it and maybe even exercise more.

Any suggestions as to what to buy? Or should I not worry about it?

I see basic measuring tools and then others that come with apps. I don’t want to spend a lot of money as I’m paycheck to paycheck.

I’ve found it unimportant, but I do like to measure all sorts of things so that when some aren’t budging there’s always something uplifting.

You can track your BF in a really low key way with a string. Cut it a little larger than your waist and tie a knot where it meets. You can see the difference easily any time you wrap it around your belly and the string end meets at a different spot, and you can tie a new knot to mark the decrease and just marvel at the difference.

I also like the free app Happy Scale. It doesn’t track BF, but it tracks your weight loss trends in all different ways, and helps me keep focused.

It’s not necessary. The best way to do this is with calipers and it’s best done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Unlike weight, you can get a rough idea of body fat just by looking in the mirror. Google body fat percentages and you’ll find some examples.

I go by body fat percentage. I don’t have a scale. When I had a trainer they did it for me, now I just estimate. You can tell the number is getting smaller by how much more definition you have.

Look into a body fat scale! there as some good ones fairly cheap on amazon ect. some might argue that they are not the most accurate way to measure but it’s all relative to how much fat they measured before.

I also like that they measure your hydration levels & of course your weight.
