Body seems to be retaining a lot of water - too much salt water?

So I’m on day 13 of 21 of my fast and for the last 5 days my weight has gone on an upwards trend of 5kg gained :/

Now I did drink a lot of himalayan salt water in the first week… I have a 3 litre bottle of water and would add a teaspoon of salt to it and that’ll be my daily intake… Sometimes I’d have an extra glass or two also.

Now I’m worried that my body is having a hard time flushing this water out due to the excess sodium. I’ve been drinking a lot of plain water and doing sauna in an attempt to flush the excess water but no luck.

Anyone experienced this before or know how to flush this excess fluid?

Answer

Don’t you need magnesium and potassium for that long of a fast? I’m not a Dr but I would be very concerned about gaining 5kg while not eating and doing saunas. Your body is obviously trying to hold on to this water for a reason.

Edit: yes, low potassium can cause water retention.

Edit 2: low magnesium can also cause water retention - https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/6-ways-to-reduce-water-retention
