Bodybuilder thinking about going on 2 week water fast. Advice?

Got married 3 years ago and have gained way more weight then I would have liked, I still have a lot of muscle and have recently been cutting for the past month. I have done fasts in the past but I’m worried about losing muscle mass while on a long fast, I am still expecting to lose some but I don’t want to lose more then like 20% I’m 6’1 at 260 pounds hoping to drop down to a BMI of around 12-15% I would say right now I’m probably close to 30% Should I follow through with the fast for just keep cutting at a high protein calorie deficit?

Answer

There’s a study that shows sedentary older people start losing muscle mass after 5 weeks. You’ll be fine. You have a lot of fat to use up first and presumably won’t be totally bed bound. Muscle is the last thing the body uses for energy. People worry way too much about this.

Answer

Muscle loss is minimal. You can blow up post fast due to increased insulin sensitivity and just regain it without the fat. If your taking steroids you aren’t going to lose shit unless your an ifbb pro. I did a cycle and got down to 8% just fasted for 2 weeks.
