I was recently put on 10 mg lisinopril for high blood pressure. I wanted to do an extended fast (72) hours but not sure if I should continue to take my BP meds during this time? I know fasting can drop your BP so I would worry about it getting too low. Anyone have experience with this? I have done EF before just not while on this medication. Thanks!
Our bodies have a lot of tricks to maintain homeostasis and a steady BP, so it’s not a given your BP will drop enough to be an issue. Only way to know is to check your BP a couple times a day during your fast. If it turns out to be an issue for you (symptomatic and very low BP), you should check with your DR about what you should do, but don’t just NOT take your meds during a fast.
