I’ve read that the best way to break a fast is 1) Bone Broth then a little while after 2) something Fermented then sometime thereafter a meal with protein and veg. I follow this protocol and never have refeeding issues.
I am sorry that some of the comments have been so unhelpful, your plan sounds like a good one! Just make sure you chew things well and take your time. My favorite thing to break it with is salmon, and maybe some sauerkraut. I wish I could be more helpful but I guess all you can do is try and see how you feel. Please feel free to update, I’d love to know how it goes for you 🤗 breaking a fast with protein is probably the best thing you can do so I wouldn’t worry!
OR should I be breaking this fast with fruits and other carb based Whole Foods along with meat and then transition after a few days to carnivore. I feel like going straight carnivore might be hard on my body but I also think the best time to do it metabolically since I’m in keto
Make sure you add healthy carbs like veggies or oatmeal. I tried to break multiple extended fast with just fat/protein and it gave me issues. Like being bloated all the time, gassy and issues going to the bathroom. With lots of veggies once you do start eating, all my issues went away. When I felt ready then I shifted to going full keto etc.
Start with bone broth. Then an hour later eat whatever you want, but just 1 mouthful. Then have a couple, then a few and worth your way in slowly. Fermented foods are best. You don’t need carbs at all. Build up slowly, but probably slower than your think. As in, don’t have 1 mouthful, then 2, then after an hour smash a full sized meal. Keep it small for a few days. If you get some lower stomach pains, switch foods.
Gently break your fast with a low carb plant based protein shake? I use pea protein and/or pumpkin protein because whey is too harsh after breaking my fast. Then wait, and slowly incorporate things like broth, veggies, fruit, complex carbs, meats
