Breaking a fast with baking soda and water

Some people seem to recommend breaking longer fasts by using a combination of baking soda and water. Can anyone explain to me how that’s potentially beneficial and how it’s supposed to support the kidneys? I was wondering, because none of the books and articles I’ve read on the topic so far mention this. I’ve done a handful of longer dry fasts (5-7days) and always went with just regular water or sometimes meltwater to break my extended fasts. I’m interested to hear if there is any research or personal experience on how adding baking soda might be advantageous. Thanks guys!

Answer

Baking soda will help alkalize your urine so you can more easily eliminate urates (and oxalates.) Citrates actually work better, but that’s more of a specialty product you can really just buy at the store.

NO! Break a fast with Water, or a Gatorade (My opinion)

It’s not rocket science, REALLY! IT’S NOT!

You don’t need to do shit, because YOUR BODY DOES THINGS NATURALLY WITHOUT YOUR INTERFERENCE!

Break a fast by rehydrating, and putting FOOD into your body.
