I’ve done loads of fasting, up to 9 days and tbh I generally found for anything over 5 days, a bit of broth and a small meal the first day then back to normal the next. Anything under and I can just eat a normal meal.
However 21 days is a different beast. I’m planning on doing a day with just broth, then day two broth and small bites of food and from then on essentially just having a normal meal but smaller and not piggy out.
For those of you who have done the longer fasts what does refeeding look like to you? Does my plan seem alright?
For myself, as a general rule, refeed takes half the time of the fast itself. When I did 14 days I didn’t move into anything solid until the third day (or maybe second day dinner). I break my fasts with pureed vegetable soup, if it’s an extended fast I make the soup with a miso base because I heard it’s good for rebuilding the gut flora. Very little soup is super filling in the beginning, then I move into cooked veggies and fruits and yogurt (easy to digest stuff). The last foods I reincorporate are meat and processed foods like noodles and breads.
The longer the better for me, to lock in the weight loss gains rather than dive right back into food addiction. I just did a 28 day water fast, with some broth, and took 3 full days to get back to moderate eating. Digestion took a while to start back up. Actually I was concerned, but exercised faith that it eventually would wake up. And it did. When I graduated to a more solid food it was well-boiled vegetables.
I’m doing it right now, today is fasting day 13 of 21 😄I do supplements, coffee and 2 cups of broth and some diet soda here and there. Feel great.
After I read some things I’ll break my fast on day 1 with Apple Cider Vinegar, Broth, Sauerkraut Juice, MCT Oil, Scrambled Eggs. Day 2 I’ll get in some steamed Veggies like brokkoli soup and then chicken. I’m planning to do some low carb/keto right after the fast top stay in ketosis and lose the last 6 kg.
