Breaking fast with a cup of fruit?

Hi everyone! F, 23 16:8

I am trying to space out my snacks/meals to allow myself to achieve a caloric deficit more efficiently, as I struggle with over eating. I usually break my fast at noon and eat until 8 pm. The past few days, I have been breaking my fast with a cup of fruit, and then a couple hours later I will eat something with some protein. I just want to be sure I’m doing the right thing and that breaking my fast with fruit is not going to affect my weight loss negatively. I know there is sugar in fruit and some people have different opinions on how this can affect your glucose, etc. I would appreciate some feedback!

Answer

If you are concerned about whether or not fruit breaks your fast… it does. Fruit takes your body out of fasting mode. Like if your goal is a 12-8pm eating window but you’re having fruit at 10am then now your eating window is 10am-8pm.

If you are wondering if fruit is a healthy way to end your fasting period… it doesn’t really matter what food you end your fasting period with.
