Even though my goal was 30 days, atleast I beat my previous water fast of 17 days.
I will try again. Maybe 4th time the charm to get to my 30 day water fast goal.
I also, have concluded on this 20 day water fast, that maybe water fasting may not be the most efficient and best way to lose fat. I am thinking a well balanced diet incorporated with a very strict hard workout routine may be more efficient at losing body fat while gaining important muscle. (The reason why i believe this is because i did not lose a single pound from day 17-20)
I will start another 30 day water fast goal within the next couple days, would love to make it to 40-60days as well for autophagy benefits.
Starting weight: 285 Ending weight: 260
So because you didn’t lose any weight the last 3 days of your fast you believe the standard way of eating would be better even though a plateau happens during that WOE too??? So losing 25 lbs. in 20 days means nothing to you as far as its effectiveness?
Congratulations, that’s a great accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourself. I suspect that our bodies replace fat with water when we fast and diet. It’s like the fat cells don’t want to shrink–they want to maintain their size, so they take on water as their fat content is burned for energy. My experience has been that the cells take on water to maintain some of their size and then gradually release the water over time. Consequently, my weight loss graphs always have plateaus or small peaks in between the drops.
OP is correct about diet and exercise. I weighed 343lbs (235lb as of today) less than two years ago. Keto/fasting has been the most useful way to lose fat. But I also do lots of cardio which burns fat and calories.
If you rely on fasting solely you probably won’t get the results you want. And it’s likely you won’t keep the weight you lost off.
