Caffeine Intolerance

Been doing IF for a week and it seems like my coffee intake is bothering me even though the amount hasn’t changed.

Is it normal for caffeine to hit harder when on a completely empty stomach

Answer

Yes, black coffee is too harsh for me on an empty stomach. I’ve switched to taking the Reset electrolyte fasting capsules (Amazon) that have green coffee bean extracts. Give me a move boost of energy & its gentle on the stomach. Gets me through EF’s too.

Answer

Is it the caffeine or the other stuff? You could try taking a caffein pill instead if you still wanted it. That will tell you if it is the caffeine that is causing the issue or the coffee itself. But caffeine is really personal. I can take a huge amount and it barely impacts me but I assume it is because I have ADHD. I have tried taking increasing amounts all in one go all the way up to the daily max on an empty stomach and it largely feels no different to me. When I was in weight loss I usually took 100mg in the morning but really I don’t feel much from it so I have never really done that much. I did that test just because I was curious how it was going to impact me based on some other things I was seeing.
