Does anyone know of any papers that show evidence of bacteria dying from dry fasting? I’m looking to kill of this specific bacteria called Klebsiella pneumoniae which is theorized to affect an auto immune disorder.

Answer

I’m afraid you won’t find specific studies or testimonies about this specific bacteria, but I can tell two general things about dry fasting that is useful regarding eventually every type of infections.

First, water restriction and fasting might increase immune system efficiency. As one example, restricting rats of water did activate their platelets. There are also studies on Ramadan fasting showing that macrophages can be in a certain state (IIRC they tend to absorb pathogens more frequently) that could be helpful against an infection.

Secondly, dry fasting might tend to have a deuterium (an isotope of hydrogen) depletion effect. Deuterium could be viewed as a signal for growth (be it for cancerous cells or bacteria). So it won’t kill them (it could for cancerous cells) but would affect their growth and thus number.
