Can extended fasts heal tendon or nerve injuries?

I’ve heard the body uses the leftover energy to take care of itself more while fasted.

Autophagy does promote nerve damage repair. Obviously it is going to take more than just one long fast to do this.

I am also fasting to heal PAD and neuropathy. Currently doing a 7 day fast and will then do alternate day fasting i.e. eat one day fast, the next , repeat.

I don’t think so?? But I used to suffer really bad plantar fasciitis, to the point where every time I got up I’d had to walk on my tiptoes for a out 10 minutes because my heels hurt so bad. Once I started fasting (OMAD w/ 36 hr fast 1-2 times a week) this problem has completely resolved. Whether it’s due to fasting or just losing 60+ lbs, I dunno.. but the pain stopped after about 3 weeks into my fasting/weight loss journey, so I hadn’t lost a WHOLE lot of weight at that point..

I’ve had chronic ankle problems ever since an evulsion fracture several years ago, which I never treated (didn’t know it was fractured). I have a bit of pain and tightness in the tendon, but it used to be much worse.

Not sure if fasting has helped somehow or just the weightloss, because there’s not as much pressure and weight on the joint as there was before. Tbh, I’m more inclined to believe it’s the latter.

Answer

Yes, and you can speed up the process by supplementing boron during your fast.
