can fasting...?

Hey yall, so I have not yet been diagnosed; but I was told I could have SIBO by a group I’m in who deals with the same issue I deal with ( constant vomiting ) I’ve been to multiple doctors who tell me I’m just overweight. I took that in and started fasting since I barely eat in a day anyways.. my issue though is that when I first started fasting I was feeling better then suddenly I ended up with a slipped disk in my back and it put me out of work. I’m not here for medical advice my main question is if I started fasting ( while working a pretty physically demanding job ) could it have made my back weak? I also want to add I struggle keeping food down so I quit fasting until I no longer throw everything up including water. I was just curious if it could have caused an issue in my back.

( also I wasn’t able to get the amount of calories down that I need for the 24 hr fast because it’s more close to my normal schedule )

A gastroenterologist should be able to definitively diagnose SIBO. I have a friend who was experiencing similar issues with frequent vomiting and discovered she had a growing intolerance/allergy to cheese as she got older, and not a bacterial imbalance. An elimination diet of common allergens might be useful to try out if you can’t make it to a specialist soon.

As far as I know, fasting shouldn’t have anything to do with your slipped disk.

Regarding not getting enough calories while fasting, people doing OMAD (fasting one meal a day) will often top off their calorie intake with fats (like some nuts, avacado, etc) since fat is calorie dense. It’s super easy to go overboard and get too many calories (like pouring a cup of heavy cream over some frozen berries), so you probably should calorie count if you’re going to try this.
