I went to a blood count on the fourth day of fasting (not planned, I just called the doctor for a check-up, since I haven’t been for a while, and he told me to come right away). On the result, my cholesterol was rather high (195 mg/dl) while HDL cholesterol was rather low (50 mg/dl). I read that fasting should improve those levels, although I don’t know if on short term or not. So I’m just wondering, could it be that my actual levels are much worse than the ones on the result?
BTW my doctor said the levels are fine and I won’t be able to improve them by changing diet, it’s all genetical. Not sure if I should believe this.
Its true, diet really doesnt play as big a part of cholesterol levels as they once thought. For instance, an anorexic or someone fasting can have very high cholesterol because the liver manufactures it.
