Can I drink lemon water on a fast and not break it, I mean full on squeezed lemon in the water

I’ve heard it breaks the fast but it’s actually encouraged to drink lemon water during a fast, why is this?

Answer

In The Obesity Code it mentions a few thin slices of lemon or cucumber in an entire pitcher of water will not break a fast but that often gets misconstrued into a several slices or, in your case, a full lemon in a glass of water…which will break your fast.

Edit: the idea is to be able to vaguely smell the fruit in the water, not actually taste it.

Answer

”The truth about lemon water and intermittent fasting: Long story short - the answer to the question ‘Does lemon water break a fast?’ is no, lemon water does not break a fast. Lemon water contains almost no calories and zero sugars, it doesn’t raise insulin levels, which means it will not break your fast.”

I’m sorry, but I think it’s wild some of these people are saying it will break your fast by squeezing a slice of lemon into your water. It will not affect you in anyway and if it helps you drink water, then do it! I drink lemon water often, it’s never affected me negatively, and I’m currently 110lbs.

Also I’ve really enjoyed a cup of hot water (temperature you’d use for tea) with a squeeze of lemon in it.

Edit: I looked into that obesity code book that the person above mentioned and I don’t see anything condoning lemon water. He encourages water, tea, broth on fasting days. So if you can have broth, you can have lemon lol
