I just started a 7 day water fast and I worked out today. But I’m not sure if I should keep exercising throughout the fast.
Day 5. I swim 2.5 hours everyday. Elecrolytes are not optional. Last fast, I was 24 hours in without any elecrolytes and I had crippling muscle cramps. Now I exercise just fine, but take it a little slower than usual.
I really recommend Dr Fung’s book The Complete Guide to fasting. In it he encourages exercise and states after the first and second day athleticism will increase during fasting and it will promote release of human growth hormones.

I can find you evidence that you are supposed to run marathons and eat rusty bolts, or i can find evidence that fasts are very bad for your digestive system because the intestines atrophy and the stomach acid has a higher chance of causing ulcers
