I was just wondering if it’s healthy or not, the intensity of the rolling (sparring) sessions have made CrossFit guys and other athletes throw up. I don’t know if it’s even possible to do it after fasting for 48 hours
I’ve done it, but I have no explosiveness. I feel very flat. Even when you have the fasted amped state, once you start rolling the oomph just seems to not be there. As far as healthy or not I never felt that it was unhealthy in any way. I just seem to be on the losing end of every scramble I get in. This also goes for being in ketosis.
I have done BJJ up to 84 hours fasted, 3 classes during that fast. Tomorrow I’ll be doing a 4th class during a single fast, 84 hours around the end of class.
Unlike others here my speed feels fine but my strength is lacking. I’m overweight, obese before BJJ and fasting, so being lighter feels amazing in class.
I find that my bruises, aches, and pains pile up then heal rapidly once I eat. When eating full time they heal in around the same amount of time, but gradually instead of rapidly after eating. I’m still a white belt, if you are more experienced you may feel less beat up in general.
im on a prolonged fast (day 3 headed to 30), I have completed this before after a previous injury, I managed to roll (bjj) and box the whole time never felt anything bad except a bit more fatigue after the session, if you are new to it just make sure you can get a ride to/from in case you are prone to fainting.
