Can I incorporate Gatorade with my fast?

First time faster here - I’ve eased myself in over the past week doing intermediate or one meal a day but starting a full water fast tomorrow. Can I add in Gatorade so I don’t feel so drained? Thanks in advance!

Thank you! Honestly I’m so reliant on sugar and that’s a main thing I’m hoping will change in my body. I wanna see how long I can fast but realistically this first round might only be 5-7 days, then maybe a couple days with broth/soup, and back on. This is all perfect info, I really appreciate it, thanks for sharing!

If you want to benefit most from your fast, don’t. If you have fat reserves, you don’t really need anything besides water. Salt or other supplements are generally not needed unless you’re malnourished already (pretty low chances of that if you’re an average north american or European…) in which case, you shouldn’t fast.

I’m also assuming you are in good general health. Be mindful of how you feel. It isn’t normal to feel very sick or faint, but you might feel weaker and sleepy while your body adapts to ketosis, this can take around two weeks if it’s your first time.

I did my first fast ever on February 1st and decided to see how long I could go. I went 21 days. Family convinced me to take one broth on most days but I regret giving in to that and I feel it kept me back on weight loss results.

One of the most significant benefits of water fasting is giving your body a break from all the toxins you’ve been feeding it and letting it do its job of keeping you healthy.

So avoid Gatorade. Salt is useful to combat nausea if you get it. I would just put a pinch on my tongue and see if it passes and repeat if needed but that’s about it.

Good luck, you can do it!
