can i take a break from IF?

SW152 CW138 GW110

i’ve been doing 14:10 16:8 and sometimes 18:6 if i feel like it for 3 months consistently while also calorie tracking and it has been great, i lost 14 pounds already but i’ve suddenly began feeling sick, i didn’t feel sick like this before. i got food poisoning but even then i kept fasting so i don’t think it’s a stomach bug or something. i feel nauseous and i have no energy, i don’t crave sweets but i crave real filling food and im also dealing with exam stress. would it be alright if i take a break for a week or at least a few days?

You can and you probably should, for your mental and physical health. When your exams are over you can pick up again if you like. You can even decide daily if you want to or not. There are some great books by Fung and Stephens on IF, and probably lots of others I don’t know about. But the newest one by Stephens explains all your options and emphasizes that you have all the control.Exams are stressful, but they are temporary, and everything is gonna calm down and be alright again very soon. Congratulations on your work and success so far!

My 32 yr old daughter was doing really well with 18/6 IF. It fit well with her work schedule and she started losing weight right from the beginning. But she started having heart flutters. We couldn’t figure out what the problem could be. She went to her PCP and found out that it’s a common side effect of fasting so she very reluctantly had to stop doing IF.
If you’re not feeling well right now then by all means take some time from it. You can start back up whenever you feel you can handle it. This is supposed to be something that brings you good happy results. Do you.
