With the light inclusion of beets and Eggs?
Yes. I’m not a big believer in the mercury stuff. I eat a ton of wild seafood as my main proteins source along with chicken since I limit my red meat intake and my blood work comes back fine every time. Salmon is a nutrient powerhouse and great protein and fats, greens are a great source of nutrients and fiber, and sweet potatoes contain beta carotene and fiber. Beets are expensive but they have known benefits for regulating blood pressure and eggs are probably the best protein source out there per calorie.
Between this sub and the healthy food sub there seems to be an uptick lately in this type of “can I survive on this minimum number of foods” posts and I’m not sure why.
The answer is pretty much always going to be the same, people are resilient and you will probably be fine in the short term especially if the hypothetical combination of foods is relatively healthy and includes some protein, complex carbs, healthy fats and fruit and veg.
That being said countless studies show that variety is essential for long term health as different foods contribute different micronutrients to your overall diet, no magic combination of 5-6 foods will be nutritionally adequate when compared to a more well rounded approach.
Yeah; looks outstanding. If you don’t have oxalate problems. Consider tree nuts, avocado, butter, olive oil, sardines… maybe some herbs; oregano, thyme.. onion and garlic occasionally, cabbage, lettuce, and stuff to mix it up.
But as for survival, you can go years on white potatoes and a little milk; of course you can survive on your list. You’ll thrive. They say sweet potatoes are a very solid staple.
Those and the beets and some berries are off the table for me when I’m in keto mode, but I eat candy, ribs, french fries and ketchup on the weekend so I have to make up for it.
Oh, and try collards, mustard greens, and turnip greens, in rotation with your greens, if you haven’t.
