Can't get rid of belly fat, despite some fat loss from other areas

I am almost 3 weeks into my weight loss journey. I was not very fat to start off with, but I have most of the fat at stomach and thighs. I do IF 15:9 and try to consume around 600-700 less calories daily. My current weight is 77 kg and my goal weight is 70-72 kg. I am one of those guys, who has a lot of fat around mid section and rest of the body is skinny, also I have a very less muscle mass. Maybe you can call me skinny fat. My concern is that in 3 weeks I have seen some weight loss but that is majorly from my face and arms which were already skinny. I have seen small fat loss from thighs and almost none from my stomach which is the major fat storage. Is it true that we lose fat from stomach at very last or am I doing something wrong? I am getting comments from people that I am becoming weak or sick, since they see my skinny face and arms but can’t see the abdomen fat. Can anyone else also relate to this, where they have disproportionate amount of fat at different areas???

Answer

Be patient. Your body burns fat in no logical or discernable manner. It burns what it needs when it needs it. Just keep up the great work and eventually your body will burn the fat in the areas you want.

I could say something, you should satr lifting some weights, the muscles need energy to exist so they increase the metabolism and take the energy before it become fat if you are doing IF, and that will help you with the skinny-fat shape, and the muscles are an incredible source of health in all kind of process in the body.

There is a reason for the term skinny fat - it’s the last to go. It’s the typical love handles etc. One thing I will say is that once you have burned fat from all other areas and the belly fat area is last to lose, you will notice the improvements fast.

I’m the same way and with similar goals. I think I’m seeing slight results after switching to a Keto diet with IF 16:8.

This is in addition to my existing routine with Yoga, HIIT, running/cardio and weight lifting.

I understand it’s going to take time and the last few pounds are the hardest. For me, it’s about making small incremental healthy changes that can be incorporated to my existing lifestyle and thinking about the long run.
