You are going to hear different things from different people. There has not been very many studies. But there have been a few that have shown certain kinds of artificial sweeteners may cause insuline spikes in some people.
What you should ask yourself is.. What are your goals. Are you using fasting just to lose weight? Do you care / are you worried about insulin resistance?
You can absolutely lose weight while drinking diet soda but that soda might have other effects on your health. It might also ruin other benefits of fasting.
Yes it’s perfectly fine. There’s zero calories.
It’s probably less than ideal than just drinking water, but if it’ll help you stick to your fast then don’t worry about it at all.
Much better to compromise your weight loss slightly every once in a while than be super hard on yourself and risk just giving up altogether
