Answer

Yes you can eat what you want after a 5 day fast. From personal experience I am fine to eat what ever as long as I stay under 1kish cals and the food is dense in calories thus not bloating the stomach etc.

Its best to break a fast with keto too or at least keep the carbs low to moderate

Answer

I personally like to take bone broth or miso soup, something that is light in calories and sugar but with some warmth, fat and protein that can awaken the digestive system. Then, I like to start eating harder food in fat like avocado - many fasting culture in Asian tradition recommend 2x-3x of days of your fasting days to slowly re-introduce harder food to your system. Ex., If you’ve fasted for 5 days, then the next 10-15 days should be your “recharging days” (보식기간, 补栽, 補植) where you’ll start off and reintroduce food slowly to prevent shocks to your system. Now, having said that everyone have different response to hard food after the fast. You should monitor yourself and see how food interacts with your system to prevent sickness or stomachaches that can harass not only your digestive system, but your overall wellbeing because, we are all doing this to be healthier than before, right? :)

I start with miso soup and fermented veggies. I wait a few hours and then move on to more or less regular meals for me. The magic of fasting comes during the refeeding stage so I’m very mindful of what I eat. I load up on fresh, nutritious foods like sprouts and fresh veggies etc. during this period I eat a lot of fermented foods and foods that are considered prebiotics. I don’t understand why anyone would put themselves through a 5 day fast and then put junk back in to your body. Your body I rebuilding and you ideally want to give it as much support as possible.

I finished a 5 day yesterday. It’s a good excuse not to partake in the gluttony of today. It’s 8am and people are already eating chocolate and drinking mimosas. It’s crazy. Apparently “calories don’t count today”.

Answer

After longer fasts I start with a simple high-quality protein, like chicken, cooked simply (grilled or in a pan) with salt and pepper. Then wait another 12hrs before eating again, but now whatever you want.

Answer

Id take it slow..introduce fruits then a regular meal…the first meal after a fast rewires your brain to crave that …I don’t think people realize the power of not only having patience with fasting but the discipline of making the first meal as healthy as possible
