Hi, I’m on a 20/4 routine and my eating window closes at 9pm. Theoricaly ketosis starts 12 hours later, at 9am. But I went for a running session of 10km (6 miles) at 7am. Can this running session consume the energy in my liver and make the ketosis and super ketosis (whatever that means) happen sooner? Thank you for your insights 🙏
You can be in ketosis and eating 3 full meals a day if they are high fat, low carb and moderate protein. Say 10% 70% and 20% respectively with carbs under 50g or under 20g if net carbs.
Eating Fiber is the same as eatin a rock. Both cannot be digested. Fiber is listed as a carb but granite is not. “Net carbs” is total carbs minus the granite. This why salads and veggies are great when you are trying to manage hunger. They fill you up and transport nutrients but are mostly indigestible fiber that keep you regular and manage the hunger.
Anyhow… if your big dinner is a bowl of pasta, it might be a stretch to be in ketosis the next morning run or no run. If your net carbs were under 20 g yesterday, you were probably in ketosis before you fell asleep.
12 hours is a benchmark for an average person eating average meals to start going into ketosis.
I’m on rolling 48s and according to the pee sticks, I go into light ketosis ~5 hours after a meal and full ketosis ~7 hours after a meal, even if it’s fairly carb heavy.
Exercise does expedite ketosis. If you are not on strict keto though 12h is just the beginning I wouldn’t even call it ketosis, it’s starting to switch, yes running helps deplete stores but it’s a moot point you are not really pushing deep ketosis either way, but with exercise I guess you can say slightly further down the ketosis road. I doubt enough to have any noticeable benefits.
If you arent eating keto, it is highly unlikely ketosis will start in 12 hours. Depending how much you weigh, it could take from 36 to 72 hours… if you were eating carbs right until you stopped eating.
