Canned Tuna or preservatives

I really love the idea of canned tuna. It’s cheap, packed with protein and seems pretty clean if you just get the tuna in water. Is it really that bad for you? Isn’t this a way better alternative compared to protein bars etc. because of all the random ingredients they have? What are your thoughts on canned proteins?

Answer

I love it and so do my cats but the mercury can build up so I limit it…..

I recently found out that fresh cilantro, taken 3 times a week, can help move mercury away from the brain tissue - it won’t remove it from your body - there is other things (can’t remember sorry) that may assist in exiting it from your body.

Answer

Make sure it’s lite tuna as it’s skipjack and has less mercury.

Also if you are just doing this for convenience and mercury is a thing for you there is canned chicken that is decent as well.

The mercury is overblown in my opinion as the Japanese is boatloads (pun intended) of tuna and are the longest living country on earth
