Carb intake after refeeding?

How do you guys manage your carb intake after refeeding, following a fast where you’ve depleted glycogen and reached ketosis?

I feel like the few days after my fast haven’t gone very smoothly, I’ve been very lethargic and tired. I have been eating lots of protein as I know that’s key after a fast, but haven’t had a large amount of carbs. Yesterday, I felt really exhausted and ate a lot of carbs, only felt better a few hours later.

ordinarily i wait up to between 4 - 5 days to have carbs, and that includes the small amount in plain greek yogurt. any time i have carbs sooner than that, i experience mild dizziness and dry mouth.

however the tiredness doesnt depend on carbs, at least for me, and only happens during fast-break day and the following day. for that reason, i break my fasts in the evening so i can sleep it off, and have coffee in the morning to help control the sleep lag.

I have a healthy dose of carbs with my OMAD pretty much every single day. And if I go on a rare extended fast I probably consume enough carbs to make a Keto evangelist have an aneurysm.

For me (and I learned this long ago from endless attempts and failures) I know damn well keto/low carb is not sustainable. Hell, I dare say it’s not sustainable for 99.9 percent of the population. People who think otherwise are really fooling themselves, but of course they never want to hear this in the moment. I just found a way to reach my goals without such restrictions on my life and sanity and it’s called fasting.
