Cardio while fasting

I just did my very first cardio workout while fasting and I feel like my stomach growled louder than it ever has before. Anyone else ever experience this, is it normal?

For context: I fasted all of last August but didn’t work out. Now that I have my rolling fasts down I was going to incorporate cardio into the mix but wondering if I will feel this hungry every time.

Answer

I always workout during my fasts and include cardio and lift weights and have done up to 25 miles of walking/jogging with little issue if any. I do take my electrolytes and listen to my body and adjust my workouts as needed. I started jogging because of the energy I got from fasting. Everyone is different though obviously.

it has happened to me before during rolling 48s an hour before breaking each fast, but the hunger persisted for around 3 weeks and was agonizing. i would wake up with urgent hunger and bad stomach pain, eat with with the same urgent hunger and pain, get full with that feeling and it never abated. be careful, dont go overboard. the fasts were too frequent, main culprit i believe.

that said, several times ive done 1 hour moderate, 15 mile standing bike sessions with sprints at the end of a few isolated 72s and 96s without any hunger issues. by the end of each, i felt more capable and energized than fed, actually sprinting farther with less effort! there were waves of tiredness during some of the zone 2 efforts, but by the end i was charged up as if i had never been fasting.

and then when i ate, nightey night. what a kill joy lol.
