For those on the carnivore diet, how does dry fasting work for you?
I’m thinking of changing my diet to a carnivore diet as I’ve heard/read many testimonials of positive changes that are happening in peoples live since switching to a carnivore diet but I still want to dry fast my only concern is with the research I’ve read, that meat isn’t good during the refeeding process as it’s too harsh for your digestive system to handle right away… What are your thoughts on this?
I want to dry fast 3 days or more (depending on how I’m feeling) my longest dry fast was 5 days
I start with bone broth for the first day, and add some butter in after 12 hours (plus some powdered organ meats) and then ease into eggs, then into whatever meat my body starts craving. I don’t go quite as strong back into big meals like some others, but refeeding is a very individual thing.
I only did one 4-day dry fast while on carnivore. To break my fast first day I only ate scrambled eggs with bacon, second day I went back to steak and eggs. Honestly felt a lot better than when I had tried to break my fast with fruits and veggies. I was kind of surprised, cos I also heard what you read about.
Im not carnivore but eggs, red meat (wild or grass fed beef), and brown sauces are perfect refeeding food
Eggs in particular are extremely easy to digest as a refeed meal.
Normal refeed would be 8 eggs with butter. Pan fried mushrooms, red meat, and a brown sauce done with wine & creme frieche or dairy.
Imo 24 eggs + a little bit of red meat is perfect refeed meal. I tend to pasteurize mine and drink it with cinnamon, vanilla and cardamom
