Cheat Meals

What are some ways people handle their cheat meals? I’ve been a solid 20:4 all week long and looking to have a little fun.

I know cheat DAYS can be horrendous. But I’m looking to prob do a 22h fast and then get after when I come off 😆

Any tips?

I don’t love the concept of ‘cheat meals’ because it implies the wrong mentality of eating the worst and a lot of it. But…figure out what your body responds to the best. For example, I know I can indulge in Chinese food or Sushi without minimal impacts. That’s lots of rice, proteins, and veggies. In contrast, if I have a hearty breakfast of pancakes and eggs… yikes. My body loves flour so much it holds on to every single calorie. So experiment and take note of the after-effects. But don’t ignore your ‘full’ feeling. There will be other eating windows.. you don’t have to fit it all into this meal.

I need a cheat day, last time I tried Im over there counting everything like I couldnt turn my brain off. Sunday I’ll give it a go. Then again, this whole week I went over on calories 5 out of 7 days of the week. On my once a week 20 hour fast until 2pm tomorrow. In the past I used to go to a buffet in my area and just had a bunch of food till I was full and then stopped but havent done a buffet meal in a while. Maybe I’ll try that again.

After some time on OMAD, I’ve found I regret having cheat meals like a big pasta meal or ice cream or other typical “cheat foods.” I tend to overdo them, and I get a lot hungrier a lot faster if I’ve eaten a bunch of sugar or refined carbs. So instead when I want to treat myself I get eat something that’s more luxurious or requires more effort to make, like a nice steak instead of my usual beans/lentils/chicken or ill make ribs or pulled pork instead of my typical 30 minute meals. I’ll save the stereotypical cheat foods for special social occasions.

I always miss breakfast so I like to have breakfast on the weekends. Right now my go-to is a latte with a little sugar and a sandwich with high quality bread, meat, and cheese. Has a bunch of good nutrients and macros and even though I don’t like to eat carbs too often (since they make me hangry), high quality bread and lattes make me crazy. I’m currently doing a 36hr before the weekend so thinking about all of this is making me hungry… :9
