Answer

It depends on what your daily caloric deficit is and how big of a cheat meal it is.

For example, if you have a daily caloric deficit of 300 calories but eat 1800 over during your cheat meal, yes you’ve essentially erased your progress for the week. If your deficit is 500 and your cheat meal is only 1000 over then no, you haven’t erased all your progress, you’ve just slowed it down a bit.

You can average your calories out over the week to see where you stand.

I personally can’t do a cheat meal every week and still lose consistently, so I plan mine for only once a month.
