If you’re trying to make this a lifestyle rather than a diet, you might have to accept that “cheat days” will happen. There will be days in your life where you have to eat outside of your eating window, or that you’ll choose to indulge in treats that you normally don’t have. Holidays, vacations, special occasions, etc make life fun and enjoyable, and can absolutely fit into an intermittent fasting lifestyle.

Just resume your normal habits tomorrow. One day won’t derail a month of progress.

Answer

I use Sundays as my \~*indulgence day*\~. I don’t like to call it “cheating” bc there’s guilt built into it and, for me at least, the language frames the mindset.

I still fast on my indulgence days and am mindful of what I eat (read: avoid bingeing, stick to reasonable intake) but I’m more flexible with snacks and I’ll have a cocktail if the mood strikes. That way I can enjoy not feeling restricted without going overboard.

Do you lift/exercise? Another thing that’s helped me resolve guilty feelings after indulging is knowing I’m putting those calories to good use. Food is fuel and some of my best lifts have been fueled by indulgence days. Try to see it as an opportunity to kick a little extra booty! :)

Answer

I do. It may make the progress a little slower but doesn’t undo everything if you don’t go crazy. For me, it gives me that satisfaction of having things like wine that I can’t do during the week because my eating window is on the morning. I would rather go slower with weight loss than feel deprived

Answer

Not the kind of cheatday people usually think of.I do strictly OMAD sunday to friday – just homemade meals and nothing else. Then Saturday is my “cheatday” – I eat a little snack (just one) in the afternoon and I go out and have a normal dinner in a restaurant. That’s it.

Answer

I honor my food intake window no matter what, and once a week one meal is a modest indulgence. Life without Mac and cheese and spicy spam is a life I cannot fathom. Hasn’t altered the downward motion of weight loss. If I could lose “faster” without that one weekly indulgence, it’s not important to me.
