Chewing Gum?

New to IF doing 15:9 to 16:8 (depends on the day), M35 5’9” SW: 222, CW:218, GW:185. I’ve been searching and think I know the answer, but chewing gum during your fast doesn’t break anything does it? Guessing sugar free gum would be best?

Answer

Depends on who you ask. If you clean fast, then all you should have during your fasting time is water, black coffee and some herbal teas are ok. If you dirty fast, gum is fine. People even put cream in their coffee or fake sugar. Dirty fasting has a lot more flexibility. But, some people don’t lose weight unless they clean fast. I’d say, try the sugar free gum. If you’re not losing as fast as you’d like, cut it out and see if it makes a difference.

Answer

What a coincidence…I’ve been researching this same question.

The result I came up with is keep your gum sugar free and only 1-2 sticks a day.

Chewing gum seems to help suppress my appetite.

There certainly is conflicting information regarding this.

Maybe experiment with gum and with no gum and use those results. After all, we are individuals with different results.
