After a simple google search, every forum is telling me chicken breast is lower in calories than chicken tenderloin. However, when comparing the nutrition labels at my local Kroger, 4 oz of breasts is 110 cals, and 4 oz of tenderloins is 90 cals under the same name brand. How is this possible? I prefer the taste of tenderloins, but I want to make sure I’m understanding this correctly so I can accurately track my calories and macros. Thanks :)
Chicken breast and chicken tenderloins are very similar cuts of meat. Further, there’s up to 20% margin of error for food packaging labels. In the long run a 20 kcal difference is minuscule, and should affect your tracking much.
While calorie tracking is not disordered in and of itself, it easily can become so when people start to obsess and stress over small differences.
