Circadian Rhythm Eating Question

Hey all,

So I’ve been looking into diet/lifestyle/eating styles trying to decide what will get me the healthiest benefits while also being reasonable. I ran into something called circadian rhythm eating. Reading about it, it seems like it’s just an alternative intermittent fasting style.

I was wondering if any of you have adopted this style of eating and any thoughts on how it went?

Answer

I think its an interesting idea, until artificial light we stopped eating before dark, it feels pretty good to be done with all eating around sunset.

Does it make a major difference in reality though? Nah, not really. Comes down to personal preference.

An interesting observation someone made: if we were meant to be night hunters/eaters, we’d have far better vision for it, but we don’t, kinda implying from an evolutionary view that we are day eaters.

Answer

I recently started skipping dinner. I eat from 6AM until noonish and it’s been easier than I thought. Plus, I THINK my sleep is slowly starting to improve. It’s still too early to say as I’m only 10 days into it, but it feels………more correct for me if that makes sense. I think Dr. Sasha Panda is the guru for circadian cycles. He and Dr. Huberman on YouTube have some good videos.

Answer

I didn’t know this was a thing…. my eating window is between 7am and 4pm so I guess my vote is for circadian. Much better sleep and I don’t feel like I’m hungry, staring at the clock, waiting for it to be food time. Today, for example, I had breakfast at 8am and then went out to a big lunch around 12pm. I’m still full 7+ hours later.

I’ve tried skipping breakfast, kicking off lunch time with a high protein meal, but I will graze nonstop and then eat a giant dinner which blows past my max calories for the day.

But don’t get hung up on what other people do/don’t do or recommend. Experiment until you find what works for you.
