Closing in on my first 96-hour fast. Should I continue?

I feel fine and could reasonably do another day, but I’m wondering if there is any additional benefit from going 120 hours or longer. Yes, I know I’ll continue to lose weight, but if I do rolling 72- or 96-hour fasts I will also continue to lose weight, just a little slower. Are there any specific benefits to the longer fasts I should take into consideration?

Answer

It depends on your body. People who are overweight or have diabetes or similar might take days to get into autophagy, and when they are in it they might need extended healing, so it makes sense for them to fast longer to begin to get the health benefits a normal healthy person would get in a day or two.

I know fasting for 45 days has been known to cure arthritis and reset ones gut biome. I’m not sure how short one can fast to get that benefit, maybe 30 days. So there is a benefit to really long fasting for those who need it.
