I drank coffee with a little chocolate (maxwell house mocha powder) and cream. 50 calories.
Now, I feel the liquid in my stomach, & mouth wants to eat.
(BG is high enough, it’s not that)
– Any suggestions to ease this rn? I’ve broken fasts over this..

I used to hate black coffee, but now it’s my usual. Here is how I effected that change:
Started brewing my coffee stronger. Weak coffee tastes sour and bitter.
Experimented til I found a roast I liked. I don’t love dark roasts, but medium works for me without being too acidic. Different strokes for different folks.
Started using a smaller cup. Black coffee doesn’t taste so great when it’s gone cold, so a smaller cup meant I was drinking it before that happened.
Added a pinch of salt to each cup. This doesn’t exactly cut bitterness, but it brings out the other flavors of the coffee. I actually like “lite salt” (half NaCl, half KCl) the best for this.
(PS: yes, espresso “counts.” If that’s how you like it, go forth and conquer.)

Just stick to the coffee without additives.
Cold brew if my preferred way to drink black coffee- the passive steeping really helps to cut down on the bitters. A nice dark roast and a pinch of salt also help greatly!
I’ve noticed I like coffee more like this anyway- I can actually distinguish the beans and flavor notes much better.
Drink a good dark roast coffee black, no cream or sugars. Dark Roast coffee is great for fasts because it’s way less acidic than normal coffee and it’s gentle on your stomach.
It wasn’t the coffee throwing you off it was the sugar and cream in it. Those aren’t good for any fast.
When I was trying to intermittent fast I couldn’t drink coffee because even just adding Splenda would spike my insulin and make me hungry. Sometimes I can drink weak black coffee but it’s not my preference. I wish you luck I had just quit drinking coffee while I was fasting. I keep yo-yoing myself. Keep up the good work man.
If your blood sugar is spiking, do a shot of apple cider vinegar.
It’s going to suck, you’ll hate it. Chase it with ice water. But it will hit your stomach and drop your blood sugar, reducing hunger, as fast as anything.
It is more difficult to not eat when you use cream or artificial sweetners. They all spike you glucose or have your body simulate a spike.
I switched to tea and strong medium roast coffee made from Arabica beans.
I also buy a better green tea than the crap you get in stores. Sfherb.com has great green teas. Love mandarin green tea. Pu-erh tea is a fermented tea I love as well. Full body and has a unami flavor
Try different things till you find what you like.
Tea has more caffeine than coffee but it’s a slower release caffeine… coffee is quick release caffeine.
