confusion with fat content in cream cheese

I’ve bought cheese that says 33% fat in dry matter. The nutrients are: 9g fat, 4g carbohydrates and 20g protein. Wouldn’t this be 9/33 ≈ 27% fat?

Answer

What is the specific language used on the packaging? Does it specifically say “dry matter”? That’s not typically how % fat in dairy products is calculated.

Can you post a link to the product? Or an image of the packaging/nutrition panel?

Answer

no. % is calculated by weight of the nutrient divided by the weight of the serving size.

also, 20 g of protein is extremely high for a serving of cream cheese. Hard cheeses are typically 7-9 g per serving. Soft cheeses are 1/2 that.
