Good luck in your journey! I hope this yields positive results for you. I would highly recommend watching this before proceeding so you can be as informed as possible about taking the correct steps. This video is not anti-vegan, purely a look at the massive importance of amino acid profiles in the foods we eat :)

I went WFPB in November 2019-April 2020 primarily for environmental reasons but ultimately decided to re-introduce some meat, eggs, and dairy (I’m currently \~90% whole foods, 80% plant based).

Frankly, my energy levels probably went down instead of up on a plant-based diet and I was always bloated from the fiber (yes, even 5 months in and even after a decade of eating many legumes & vegetables regularly). I’m sure this is somewhat dependent on your own body, as well as the specifics of what you eat on a day-to-day basis.

I know it CAN be done and that others have had success with it but for me the only major difference I noted was that I was using all my mental energy to figure it out.

Instead of going plant based Whole Foods, just maybe try Whole Foods in general. I was vegan for a year and I felt great at first, but despite supplementing with iron and B12 I accidentally lost 80 pounds to an unhealthy point and had to spend $1700 on dental work from a lack of calcium. Meat is extremely healthy when you’re not overeating and the benefits most people get from going plant based is just from cutting out processed crap

Answer

Make sure you include those eggs and fish.

I went full plant based (vegan) for a year and lost 40 lbs while becoming severely anemic. It took my body months to finally recover into feeling somewhat normal again.

Plant based doesn’t work for everyone. Some of us need good healthy animal products.
