Coping with mood swings?

I (24f) have been intermittent fasting consistently since July 2022. I am 5’1” starting weight 185lbs, current weight 171lbs. Typically I follow the 16:8 schedule, but occasionally I will go for slightly longer if my work day is altered, but I never go longer than 24 hours. Since I began, I have noticed bouts of anxiety, depression and crying fits. I had very mild social anxiety prior to fasting, but it seems like since the summer it has ramped up tenfold. I use the Zero app to track my mood and fasting times and I can’t pinpoint a pattern or why this is happening. Has anyone else experienced mood swings with fasting and how did you overcome?

Answer

i’m thinking it could be your blood sugar dropping which is causing you problems!

Not sure of your diet, but i would add some good quality fats to your meals like avocadoes, Eggs, walnuts ect to keep your blood sugar steady.

Maybe look into keto/low carb on you tube
