September went well! I’m down to 244 for the end of the month. So overall, 46 pounds down. I’m still on track, and my goal for October is to get down to 236, which will be lowest weight in years. Feeling confident I can do it. The weather is slowly starting to turn cooler which means if I have the gumption to, I can do walking outside.

Hi, I”m new to this and this is my first post on dieting ever. I started IF last Sunday at 92,5 kg, and after a week I’m 2,4 kg (5,3 lbs) down. Atm what works for me is eating anything and any amount between 5 and 7 pm.
My starting adult weight was 52 kg until I had my first baby, and I’ve been struggling with my weight ever since then - I’ve gained 40 kg in 30 years, and my knees are killing me. I’m not one of those people who gain weight despite eating little. I do eat a lot all right. My problem is, I’m always hungry. And I love cooking, it’s my hobby. I’ve tried every diet there is, and this is the first one I feel could really work in the long run (after keto that I loved, but gave me high cholesterol that isn’t going down, so that was stupid). I lost 17 kg during the pandemic with five meals a day consisting of salad and some fruit with a very controlled amount of protein - I gained all back in a few months after the moment I set foot to Greece and had to taste everything, and then I just never had the energy to start starving myself again. Btw, I first started considering IF after I’ve read about those Greek islands where people live over 100, and the one thing that sets their diet apart from everybody else’s is that they take their religous fasting seriously. I had always thought that 5 meals a day were essential, as this was what a few doctors told me in my lifetime. Apparently the inhabitants of Ikaria disagree. If anything, IF cannot be bad for you.
I love how I can still eat anything in IF, try new foods, experiment with new recipes … just not before five in the afternoon. That is doable. It doesn’t feel like I’m facing eternal deprivation at all. Yes I’m hungry during the day, but I’m always hungry anyway, whether I eat or not. As it turns out, there is no way I could eat more than a decent meal in the two hour window anyway, and the meal is not even that big; I don’t have the capacity. I never ate a lot in one meal, I just eat all the time. Well, not any more. :) I’m going to start planning my meals a bit better when I get accustomed to the rhytm.
Oh, and during this week I allowed myself to drirink kefir or clear soup once a day at exactly 12 o’clock when I was really hungry. My past experience tells me that sticking to exact times is the key. Your body gets used to those times.
Any input, explanation, criticism will be appreciated.
Checking in today to hold myself accountable as I believe it will make this easier
Usually I OMAD around 6 or 7pm, however today I go onto 2 days of nightshifts from 7pm - 7am
This messes with my plan, therefore I plan to fast until 11:30pm at which point I will eat an 800cal meal. I will then eat again at 04:00am and that will be it for a 6 hour window.
Kind of annoying but that’s life, these 2 days usually end up making me go off track every week. Hopefully today will be different if i hold myself accountable and be mindful.
Maybe a dumb question but I’m new to IF: how badly would it break the fast if I have a gummy melatonin at bedtime? It’s 15 calories with 3g of carbs and 2g sugar. I’m just wondering if that technically resets the 16-hour period.
