Dangerous long-term for women?

Hello, I’m 23 and started IF recently this year throughout my weight loss journey and it’s been quite helpful. I’ve been mostly doing 16:8, 20:4 on occasion. I’ve also done a 48 hour fast for mental resiliency as well and just love fasting in general as I feel more productive and a student in college However, I’ve been losing a lot of hair and experiencing irregular bleeding (not on menstrual cycle). I’m quite worried as I’m not sure if I should continue fasting or not.

Hi, so hair loss can be down to a number of things like…Eating too much fatEating too little fatThyroid issues StressLow iron levelsLow b12 levels Needing a good cutBrushing too muchWashing too muchNot Washing your hair properly Plus many others.

You should go to your Dr and get this checked out, I was suffering with hair loss but since having bloods and discovering I have Low iron, I now only have the normal amount of hair loss. I’ve also switched to Washing my hair weekly which helps too.

As for the periods, this could also be down toStressFibroids Hormonal imbalance PCOS/endometriosis The type of birth control (if on any)Rough sex

Again you need to consult your dr and bloods should be done as a basic but also depending where in the world you are then an transvaginal ultrasound should be performed.

Again from experience, I was bleeding for 4-5 weeks at a time, was concerned it was due to fasting but then fund out I had 2 massive fibroids (8cm and 10.5cm) we can live our entire lives with these and they not cause an issue or they can be absolute sods and cause us all kinds of hell. I’ve had the mirena coil put in since and it’s honestly been a life saver.

Please book an appointment with your licenced and registered medical Dr and get bloods done to check everything as a basic line of diagnosis. Don’t take supplements until told you need them.
