Just sharing an update. I started at 208 and I’m down to 182. My goal is just self-control – mostly a mental/spiritual exercise, though I also enjoy reaping the health benefits.
Lately I’ve noticed my mouth almost always has a weird taste regardless of whether I’m drinking electrolytes or straight water. It’s not very bothersome, but something I’ve noticed.
My sinuses have never been clearer – even with the early onslaught of pollen. My throat has been sore (presumably the pollen) but my sinuses have been so clear.
My energy levels rise and fall from one day to the next and I struggle to understand why – if there is something else I could be doing to stabilize them. I run weekly (30 minutes and about 2.5 miles), get about 6 hours of sleep a night, and work out every day (basic calisthenics with my wife).
Recently, I get really hungry at meal times. I was just watching someone talk about a recent study that said feeling hungry when you fast is a sign that your fast is working (talking about hormonal hunger as opposed to “true hunger”). So, I take that as a good sign.
Anyway, I feel great overall. Already I’ve fasted longer than I ever have before, so regardless of when I break, I’m happy with my achievement. My next milestone is thirty days. If I can do it, though – if my body can support it – I’m going for the “biblical” 40 days. So, here’s to two weeks and a day!
Not me reading this while laying in bed 52 hours into a fast and breathing through my nose instead of mouth breathing in bed like I always do lol. When I’m laying down it never feels like enough through my nose! Interesting
