Did a 48 hour fast while my husband did a 72 hour fast.

This was testing the waters to do a routine or perhaps a longer fast (but we want medical supervision for the longer ones.)

I have some quirky questions: Anyone’s sense of smell get sharper into day 2? I noticed it but didn’t say anything, and he randomly says to me, “I feel like I can smell better.” (He generally has a bad sense of smell.)

The other is… I started my fast mid-day so I could use sleeping time to off set hunger feelings and discomfort. Night 2, I noticed I felt very hot… both at night and during the day. My husband said he felt something similar, like everything was warmer. I read that extended fasts make your body temp go down, so I was wondering if this was something normal for early on?

Thanks!

I can smell an uncooked egg at 50 meters. Your olefsctory senses definitely pick up while fasting.

Famously at the end of seal training they do a run after fasting for several days and they hang a cheese burger in a tree. The trainies smell it over amile away.
