Did anyone wreck their metabolism doing this diet?

My ideal is 2mad, so I want to fast just to lose the weight. Maybe encorporate a 48 one day a week afterwards.

Has anyone lost 20lbs or so and then gone back to eating, lets say… 2mad?

I am 165/5”3/F

Hoping to lose 20 lbs in the next month or two, but not wanting to have serious long term ramifications for doing so.

Not at all. I’ve fasted more days than I can count. I dropped 40 pounds from fasting. When you think about it, it’s totally natural for humans to fast. Think back to our days as “hunter and gatherers.” We fasted frequently.

LOL- I was watching “The Food That Built America” on Discovery. One of the things they talked about is the invention of A1 Sauce and Ketchup. It was created out of necessity because most of the food we ate back then was spoiled and tasted like crap.

I admit, I never fact checked the data in the show, but it makes sense to me that we had problems keeping food from going bad prior to modern refrigeration.

One thing to keep is mind is DO NOT OVER EAT! You have to learn to control your portions. If you chose to over eat, then this diet has nothing to do with you weight gain. Your over eating habit does.

Finally, I just want to add that I have seen peer reviewed ( claimed to be peer reviewed) research that fasting does not cause your metabolism to go down, like a traditional diet does. One study looked at participants on “The Biggest Looser” and noted that their metabolism dropped 40% (I don’t recall the exact amount) whereas, fasting does not cause your metabolism to drop like a weight caloric restriction diet does. “
